QuestionI'm a 7th grader currently working on a bizarre plant project. Cacti flourished in our county, but I thought the inside of the cacti is very unique.
Can you please give me some pictures of the inside of cacti and some information of how it never gets dehydrated.
Thanks,
Heather :D
AnswerHeather,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I have been having a lot of computer issues that I think are now fixed. I apologize, don't have any pictures of the inside of cacti, however check out this website: http://www.teessidecacti.org/BCSS/CULTIVAT/grafting.htm
They resist dehydration by reducing their surface area (no leaves), by shading themselves (ribs and spines) and by opening their stomata only at night. Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Greg
