QuestionGreg,
We purchased a new home this summer. The sellers left behind a number of things in the garage that they assured us they would pick up. Included in the pile of things is a tall cactus (I don't know the variety.) Living in Vermont, it suffered during some below freezing days and nights before we decided that the rightful owners were not going to come for it. We have since moved it indoors, but it seems to have suffered frostbite. Many of the "limbs" or "shoots" have gone discolored and limp.
What do you suggest we do to help this suffering cactus? Should we cut the areas off that seem most affected? Is there a soil supplement that might help?
Thanks for the help... please email me the response if able.
Happy Holidays!
Jeff
AnswerDear Jeff,
Actually, I would leave it alone for a while to see if it starts to recover. Water it only if the soil is dry. It would be helpful to see a picture to know what type of plant we are talking about, but not necessary. Make sure it gets as much sunlight as possible without being the in direct sun. If it recovers, it may take a month or two to show signs of recovery.
Hope this helps.
Greg
