Eurphorbia

Question
Last week we cut a 52 inch euphorbia that was geting very skinny at the top - it was always skinny - not more than an inch and one half at the base.  It is 13 years old.  We cut 4 six inch sections and left the base.  We replanted the stalk and each of the four cuttings.  We were told to leave the cuttings in a dry place until the white end dried - which would be a day.  We did this, then planted it in potting soil, after we had brushed them withroot tone, watered each until the water came through and put them in semi-shade.  That was 1 weeek ago.  We just read your answer to someone's question where you said to leave it out several weeks.  Should we take out the plants at this point and let them dry further or leave them alone?

Answer
Dear Robert,

At this point, I would leave them as they are, but only water when the soil is dry. After a couple of weeks, you can resume your current watering schedule, but make sure the soil is not damp all the time or the cuttings will rot. If they start to rot, it will spread very quickly with cuttings that small so be very observant.

Depending on the plant, it can take anywhere from a month to a few months to root, so be patient. Good luck!

Sincerely,

Greg
