QuestionI'd like to put a cactus (or two) in my office at work, to liven it up a bit. The problem is that it will get no real sunlight at all, only artificial light. Is it possible to grow cacti in these conditions? If so, which are the best (preferrably small, I don't have a huge desk)?
AnswerDear Steve,
Cacti might 'live' in such an environment, but, unfortunately, they won't be happy. They really need to get some real sunlight. Though there are growers that use lights (particularly in winter) to cultivate these plants, cacti might not be your best choice for an all-artificial light environment. It might be better to consider a Sansevieria, a Haworthia or Kalanchoe if you'd like to have succulent plants in your office.

Jeff
