QuestionI have a 7 foot tall single stem cactus that is turning at the top and has 3 additional cactus growths that continue to forn at the tip. I would like to know if I can cut the cactus any where on the main stalk and replant the part that I removed.
AnswerDear Alan,
Yes you can, but you need to be careful. It may be that you actually have an Euphorbia. I only say that because Euphorbias that get that tall generally branch that high above the ground. If it is a Euporbia, there will be a milky sap inside that can burn your skin.
If it is a cactus, there won't be a milky sap. In either case, you will need to let the cutting "dry" out or "heal" for a few weeks befor you replant it. Once you replant it, water it really good and then don't water unless the soil is dry. You'll be set once you see new growth.
I hope this helps. Good luck.
Sincerely,
Greg
