Yucca - watering frequency

Question -
I have planted a Yucca 'Bright Edges' in a simulated desert setting w/ good drainage - here in Sunset 15, Mediterranean climate, no rain May to November.  How often should I water it?
Answer -
Dear Luke,

If it is anything like other Yuccas, it won't need much water unless you've just planted it, and then maybe only once a month. Here is a website I found that might help. http://www.floridata.com/ref/y/yucc_fil.cfm

Thank you and good luck!

Sincerely,

Greg

Thanks.  I had seen that site but didn't know how to interpret "average to dry soil - drought tolerant".  So once a month will do it?
Thx, luke

Answer
Dear Luke,

Once the Yucca has been planted in the ground for year, you will not need to water it but maybe once or twice during the summer. What I mean by watering it is by letting a hose run very slowly at the base of the plant for a few (up to 5 hours) hours.

"Drought tolerant" means that the plant will need some water, "drought resistant" means that a plant requires no extra watering. Since you've just planted yours though, once a month should do. Hope this helps, thanks!

Sincerely,

Greg
