QuestionI've started growing cacti seedlings indoors, started in a proffesional cacti mix. I'd like to start feeding them but I don't want to burn them. I burned up my first two soon after they sprouted, so they are quite stunted right now. I have a 1,7,6 cacti feed on hand with instructions to use once every two weeks. How soon can i start feeding my seedlings or should I even feed them at all since my cacti mix includes time release fertilizer? If feeding would increase their growth or health in anyway i'd like to do it, Thanx

AnswerDear Johnson,
There are a pair of leaves that form when a cactus seedling sprouts. When those two leaves are no longer visible below the sprouting cactus, you can then start fertilizing but only at half strength. And only use fertilizer once a month or less.
Since cacti store water, they do not need extra fertilizer. Faster grown can be accomplished by using grow lights and lengthening daylight hours and increasing humidity. Do not over water, as cacti are susceptible to rot. Hope this helps, good luck!
Sincerely,
Greg
