QuestionWhat are the light requirements for hardy pitcher plants in the winter? I would like to put my potted sarracenia in an unheated shed during the freezing weather so the pot will not crack. I live in the Portland Oregon area. Thanks.
AnswerHi Dan,
Once plants are dormant, which they are now, they don't need much light. Placing them in the shed during the freeze is fine, and a good idea. Just be sure to put them back outside once we are back to rain. Keeping them cold and dark all winter encourages mold and rhizome rot.
Good Growing!
