Torn Pitcher Cups

Question
We just got a new N. ventricosa.  It's in a 4" hanging pot, indoors, kitchen window, South Louisiana.

We also got a new kitten that managed to leap up and snag the cups with her claws.  Several of them now have tears (0.5 - 1 inch) now.  Will these heal?  Should we do anything?  Prune cups?  Leave it alone?

Thank you,
Jessica A.

Answer
Hi Jessica,

Once a pitcher is damaged it will harden off at the damage points, but it won't heal.  If the pitchers are badly damaged, cut them off.  It's better to let the plant put energy into new ones.

Good Growing!
