QuestionHi guys! Been a while, hope all is well.
So I have been growing neps for about 5 years and just today I am seeing my first flower stalk.
Pretty exciting for me. Anyway, I obviously want see what sex it is even though I have no other flowering plants to polinate with. Is there anything I should do, leave it alone or cut it off after it shows sex? Sorry if this is a noob question. I feel like I shouldn't have to ask but this is new for me :)
Thanks as always.
Ed
AnswerHi Ed,
Unless you have another Nepenthes of the opposite sex, just cut it off. They are not particularly attractive, and they smell really odd; almost like chemical or bleach. Like many plants they do slow down when blooming, so removing the flower keeps them growing more.
Good Growing!
