Flytrap traps wilting

Question
Flytrap right now
Flytrap right now
I bought a red dragon flytrap from you about two months ago and it was growing fine until a 3 to 4 days ago. It's old traps died back and the new ones are wilting and turning black. I can't see any insects on it and the water i use with it is what I use for all of my plants and none of them are unhealthy. I have heard they like it drier and it has been rainy this week, so could it be too moist? It has been about an inch and a half to two inches of water for about a week and before it was in around half an inch or less.

Answer
Hi Russell,

What is your water source specifically?  It looks like your plant has rotted out, and there can be different causes for this.  A heavy rain would not cause this to happen.  All flytraps like their water table lower, but none like to be dry.  The water level should simply be much lower on the pot.  Has the weather been very hot where you live?  Did anyone fertilize the plant without your knowledge, or fertilize other plants in the area, and just happened to hit the flytrap too?  If possible, include a photo or two of your other plants.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Good Growing!
