Glabrata discoloration  

Discoloration   I've had this particular plant since December 2013. It has always grown well in my small highland terrarium. This past winter the leaves began to change color. The plant continues to increase in size and to pitcher well. Daytime temps mid 70sF nighttime temps 55-60F. Humidity is always high as I use an ultrasonic humidifier. Potted in peat moss, perlite, orchid bark. Top layer live sphag. I feed the plant fish food and frozen (thawed) blood worms.

Hi Sarah,

This looks like Thrips.  Get a hand lens and carefully examine the underside of the leaves.  If you see little long and narrow bugs, you've got 'em.  You will need to spray.  Here's a link to our insecticide podcast for general information:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbRCdJ8ZNF0  

Unfortunately, these are not easy to kill.  Of the pesticides we recommend in the video try either Neem or one based on Permethrin.  Be sure to follow the reapplication rate, and all safety directions.  Avoid the Bayer products for Thrips.  They're immune to the main ingredient imidacloprid.
