Question
Nepenthes x Caesarion Nepenthes x Caesarion
I bought this Nepenthes x Caesarion back in Sept of 2014 from SN. It wasn't until yesterday, I realized that I have been giving it highland condition rather than intermediate.
I posted on a forum regarding my concern on the browning and yellowing of the leafs. Even though the plant has produced bigger pitchers one after the other, I still want to make sure this plant isn't slowly but surely dying.
The plant has been placed in a terrarium 9 inches under Sunblaze 24 HO that is on 12 hours a day.
Day time avg temp = 70~73
Night time avg temp = 51~53
Day time avg humidity = 80~90%
Night time avg humidity = 95~98%
I fed it grounded dried bloodworm twice.
If you guys think the plant is fine, I'll leave it alone. If not, I'll find it a better home
AnswerHi Steve,
I can see that you have an older leaf and pitcher that is on it's way out, but that is very normal. Otherwise your plant looks fine. Your nights are a bit on the cool side for this plant, so I would try to keep it in the upper 60's. I can also tell from the yellowing, and this isn't necessarily a bad thing, that the lights are very bright. You might bring them up and inch or two from the plant. The yellowing could be from a combination of the cool nights, and very bright light, but this is often what the plants look like in nature too. When you are getting good pitcher production like that, the plant is pretty happy. I'll be curious to see it in a couple years when it's bigger than your terrarium. :)
Good Growing!
