QuestionI have a Drosera Spatulata plant that I bought during your 2 for 1 sale. It's thriving in my south facing kitchen window, right above the sink. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed a stem/stalk growing from the plant. It's now about 8 inches high, is curled at the top and looks to have possibly seeds on it. I need to know what this is, and what I can do with it. Hopefully, I've inherited a new plant! Thanks for your help.
AnswerHi Rochelle,
Brace yourself. It's a flower. If it hasn't already, it will open up little tiny pink flowers about one per day. Tickle the tiny flower parts with either a little paint brush or toothpick to help assist pollination. (They self-pollinate.) You should see tiny black seeds falling out in about 3 weeks or so. Wait until the stalk turns brown and dried and tap it over a white piece of paper and you'll see them falling out. Just sprinkle those over some pots with wet peat moss and they'll germinate in about a month. You'll have lots of little baby sundews!
Good Growing!
