I have a somewhat odd predicament. Some of the early season leaf cuttings taken from a temperate sundew (D. x beleziana 'Nightmare') were late to take - and just started producing plantlets within the past few days. My question is as follows -- since we are on the eve of the normal dormancy period for this particular plant, should I pot them up and place them in the outdoor growing environment from whence they came (Columbia, SC), or are they able to forgo their first year of winter dormancy, and become established in an indoor growing environment (as is commonly done with North American pitcher plant seedlings)?

Hi Robert,

Depending on how big they are, I would go for outdoors.  Just protect them from frost.  If they fully form hibernacula, you're going to be fine.  If they don't, then you will probably need to keep them in a window for the winter.  When do you typically get the first frost in Columbia?
