D. capensis outside in Portland?

Question
Hello!

I recently purchased a very healthy, flowering Drosera capensis. I live in downtown Portland Oregon, and I was wondering if I could grow my Drosera capensis outside on my porch. The porch gets five or six hours of direct sunlight, and indirect / shade the rest of the day from the building next to us. (I also have a Sarracenia flava, Darlingtonia californica, and Pinguicula moranensis that seem to be doing very well in that spot).

The alternative is growing it inside under 2 t5 tube lights where I grow my Nepenthes maxima. Which of these two environments do you think would be better for my Drosera capensis?

Answer
Hi Paelen,

The Cape Sundew will be fine outside for the summer.  Just bring it in before the first frost.  They can take a very light freeze, but will die if left out all winter.  The T-5 light assembly will be great for the plant during the winter.

Good Growing!
