Question
Greenish/Yellowish Per
Me again. And I would like to thank you for taking your time to answer all my questions!
I just got a N. Talangensis that was advertised as having a bright red peristome. I was wondering if it will change color over time or did I end up with the greenish peristome variety. I asked the merchant and he said that it was because it was young. I would also like to hear what you might have to say.
I have other younger plants with very red peristome and that is why I am wondering about this one.
Thank you very very much!
AnswerHi Nanthawat,
You probably will need to wait until it's older to be able to tell. Lots of Nepenthes look different when they are young. One of our common plants, the orange form of Nepenthes sanguinea, always has pale, very spotted pitchers when young. Not until you see more mature lower pitchers do you see the beautiful orange suffused pitcher.
Once the plant is older, if it turns out to be the wrong type, contact the grower. Keep track of your e-mails and order information.
Good Growing!
