baby Aphrodite

Question
Baby Aphrodite
Baby Aphrodite
I just unpacked my new Aphrodite that I ordered from you and as usual it is perfect but I got a bit of a surprise.  It appears to have a baby.  After a couple of weeks of acclimation should I separate the baby or leave it and if I separate it how would I do that?

Answer
Hi Pat,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.  Too busy around the nursery!   Yes, you can separate the plant out from the main pot, but it's not at all necessary.  Butterworts tend to form clumps like that, and they make a very good display.  If you want to separate it out, wait until its a bit larger.  The mother plant does offer protection from fluctuating conditions.  This type of protection allows the plant to grow faster.  If you attempt to separate it when it's small, it'll likely grow a bit slower.  To separate it out, you'll need to unpot the entire plant and carefully tease the roots apart.

Good growing!
