QuestionI'm ordering a Sarracenia lecuphollya and for dormancy do I put it in my refrigerator? I live in zone 9 and have very warm winters usually up to 75 degrees.
AnswerHi Dayton,
You don't need to do anything. Since you are in California, you still experience cooler temperatures in the winter, and a shorter photoperiod. This shorter day is largely what triggers dormancy. Also, Sarracenia leucophylla comes from the warmer part of the Sarracenia range, so a warmer winter is no problem for them. Sarracenia in general are able to cope with shorter dormancy better than Flytraps or North American Sundews.
Good Growing!
