Question

Nepenthes alata?   I believe this is a Nepenthes alata. I live in Central New York and have had this plant for a little over a year. It has almost doubled in size since getting it. The plant was out all summer on my east facing porch and put in a south facing window over the winter. I recently transplanted it into a 24 inch coco fiber hanging basket and placed it back out on the east facing porch. I water it ever other day using dechlorinated water. Since doing this the plant has started to turn brown. I really enjoy this plant and it has grown and done so well, I do not want to see it die. Any and all help would be great. Thanks in advanced

Judging from your photo, the parts that are turning brown are the older leaves lower down on the plant.  This is completely normal and unavoidable as the leaves are going through their natural life cycle.  Nepenthes is a woody vine.  As it matures, it produces a very long vine.  However, the leaves on the lower section of the vine will eventually turn yellow and dry up.  So, there's nothing to worry about.  Your plant looks healthy and is simply going through its natural growth phases.  

You can take cuttings of your vine and produce a new plant.  We demonstrate that process in our Volume 3 DVD.
