Question

P. 'Sethos'   I'm wondering if this was caused by mishandling, too much sunlight or anything.

It has been with me for about a week, it looks like its rotting the base of the flower stalk is week, it is not stiff at all.

Current lighting conditions is shade, no indirect sunlight, although it did have about 5 hours of direct sunlight for the first time today. No dew. Sitting ON TOP of a coco peat-sand (1:1) medium. 2 flowers, just now I cut on of the flower stalk.

When it was shipped, it was just sitting ON TOP of it medium after a few days it was still alive although no dews.

African Violet Pot   Hi Volle,

It looks like you may have a couple of issues here.  The first is light.  Butterworts are somewhat shade tolerant, but do much better in bright conditions.  If you have the plant in a window, move it to a window that gets some direct sun.  This is usually going to be a West or South window.  Also, keep your butterwort a little drier.  They will definitely rot out if you keep them as wet as sundews.  One easy way to maintain this is to plant them in an African Violet pot.  I've included an example of one.  I would also avoid using coco-fiber for your next mix.  Some plants don't seem to do as well in it.  Currently we only use it for Nepenthes.  Use a mix of equal parts peat moss, sand, perlite, and vermiculite.
