Question
Nepenthes Jamban Nepenthes Jamban
Allexpert,
I found this weird ooze like substance on my Nepenthes Jamban. I am wondering if this is a fungus or something else? When sprayed distilled water on the plant it would expand outward. I have attached 2 photos to this email. I am very curious what this strange ooze like substance is. Also what do I do about it? Thank you , for answering my questions.
Sincerely,
Weylin
AnswerIt's nectar. Carnivorous plants produce nectar to attract insects. While Nepenthes produce the nectar at the entry of the trap (pitcher lip), it will also produce nectar along the leaves to guide insects to the pitcher. You don't need to do anything. This is a completely natural process.
Good growing!
