Delivery damage problem

Question
Hi. I have recently bought a Nepenthes Ventrata from Hampshire Carnivorous Plants and it arrived yesterday. My problem is when it arrived, the pitchers had no liquid in them. Please can you answer these
1.When will the Nepenthes traps fill up with liquid
2.How long will it take for it to grow new traps because of the stress from delivery.

Answer
Nepenthes produce fluids on their own.  When shipping these plants, the grower will typically pour the fluids out so that it doesn't cause problems while the package is in transit.  We do this at our nursery.  You plant may or may not replace the fluids.  This depends on the age of specific pitchers and your growing conditions.  Newly developed pitchers tend to recover faster than older pitchers.  Pitchers that were 2-3 months old at the time of receiving the plant most likely won't reproduce any fluids.  This is natural.

How soon your plant grows new pitchers shipping also depends heavily on your growing conditions and the original health of the plant.  It could be a couple months.   It could be a full year.  Only time will tell how well your plant adapts to its new environment.  Make sure to read the care instructions on our main website:
