Re-potting Nepenthes

Question
Hi. I have been wanting to re-pot my nepenthes for quite some time now. It has many pitchers very close to the base of the pot. When i re-pot it should i remove the pitchers or try to grow each new leaf far enough away to accommodate the new larger pot size before re-potting? My plant is a N. ventricosa x truncata intermediate hybrid. I grow it in and eastern window with daily overhead misting with distilled water and feeding with an occasional bug. It is still in the original 3" pot and soil that i received from you several months ago. Thanks for reading.

Answer
Yes, it can be difficult to repot the plant when the leaves and pitchers are hanging over the edge.  Sometimes it's easier to repot a plant by removing the lower pitchers.  I've done this before, particular with truncata and its hybrids.  So it won't harm your plant at all to remove the pitchers if it'll make it easier to repot your plant.  In some instances, you may need to break the rib in the lower leaves so that the plant doesn't push itself out of the soil.  Your plant will definitely appreciate the extra room for its roots, but it may look awkward for a few months with the  until it produces additional new growth.

Good growing!
