QuestionGreetings :)
I have some baby flytraps (unknown mixed parentage) nestled into some sphagnum moss only. These were seeded by me in late july and are very tiny (to be expected).
I am located in the knoxville Tennessee area.
The question is... Should I leave them out for the winter and take care of them as I do my large ones which are potted in perlite / peat moss mix.
THANKS GUYS!!!
AnswerFor the sake of having large flytraps next season, grow them inside in a very sunny south window or under strong fluorescent lights. It won't harm them at all to skip their first winter dormancy. We sometimes do this for our seedlings. When they get larger, then let them overwinter outdoors. Just make sure to monitor your seedlings for fungus and mold. This is a common problem when keeping plants indoors during the winter. Spray the seedlings with a sulfur fungicide as a precaution. Watch our video podcast on fungicides for more information.
