QuestionHey Jake,
I have a question or two regarding germinating Nepenthes seeds. What kind of soil medium would you recommend for germinating them? I have been using long-fibered New Zealand sphagnum moss...I've had mixed results so far with that. I planted some N. rafflesiana seeds today using coir. I have never used this material before for germinating Nepenthes seeds. I had pretty good luck germinating some N. glabrata and N. aristolochioides using the long-fibered New Zealand sphagnum moss. Have you ever tried coir before?
What methods do you implement when germinating your Nepenthes seeds?
Many thanks,
Derick
AnswerHello Derick,
I have used several different types of soil medium to sow nepenthes. One I found extremely efficient is long fibered sphagnum moss. Generally what I would suggest for you is to try live sphagnum moss if you can. I seem to get alot more of a "higher germination rate", I just mainly try to keep most or damp, and keep the humidity up. And time of course. Anyways, I hope this helps and let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
Happy Growing,
Jake
