QuestionCan you suggest what I should look for in an inexpensive greenhouse for my (highland) nepenthes? I see some pretty inexpensive options on Amazon but am not sure that they will do the trick.
Thanks
AnswerHi Itai,
Setting up a greenhouse for highland Nepenthes, depending on your budget, is not going to be an inexpensive proposition. If you're looking at the type of greenhouses I think you may have been they will only produce grief. Here's an example of the ones I'm talking about: http://www.amazon.com/Flowerhouse-FHFH700CL-9-Feet-8-Feet-FarmHouse/dp/B001TI048 This kind is way too lightweight to be anything except a cold frame for hardy plants. You would need something that had insulating walls, and cold be heated in the winter. This kind could get the job done: http://www.amazon.com/Shelter-Logic-7060-ShelterLogic-Greenhouse-In-A-Box/dp/B00 This is the same one I had for my first greenhouse, and you have to add a plastic layer in the winter it heat it, but they are very durable in wind, and the cover is long-lasting. If you cold afford it, these are my favorite small greenhouses: http://www.greenhousecatalog.com/category/solexx-greenhouses They are super durable, and this company is great to work with. The Solexx double-walled plastic is more durable than polycarbonate, and insulates better.
Good Growing!
