QuestionHi,
I have a venus fly trap that i had inside with a sun lamp on it all the time with the soil 50% perlite and 50% peatmoss it was doing very well but I put it outside thinking i could take advantage of the sun but all the traps turned black slowly and died but the bulb still looks good so I asked someone for help and they said just leave it the plant is adjusting to real sunlight but its been a month now and no new traps are growing I still water daily not to let the soil get dried out but the bulb looks ok and i give it sunlight all day. I dont know what to do can you please help. thank you for taking time from your day to help.
Answer
My Venus Flytraps
Hello John,
Your Venus Flytrap may have gone into dormancy but will come out of it in 30-45 days. Please keep your plant tray watered just at one to two inches and go back to the sun lamp, lighting and set it at 12-14 hours a day for the next 3-4 weeks and then you can cut back to 8-10 hours after that. Always adjust lighting very slowly and a little at a time for all plants can burn but carnivorous plants can like yours go into dormancy. Please keep me posted on updates and would enjoy a photo. Your new friend, Dan (Daniel Lee Bowen)
P.S. Please let me now if I can ever be of help for I want to be here for you.
