QuestionHey guys, Jason from AZ here. I was wondering about growing flytraps from seed. Specificly the question is in regards to dormancy. Do they need it when young and when is the best time to sow them? Thanks
Jason
AnswerHi Jason,
Venus flytrap seedlings can go a year without dormancy when young. Usually by the second year they need a dormancy period.
Sow flytrap seeds as soon after collection as possible. They have a very short viability period. Without refrigeraton they only last about 90 days, with refrigeration they will last about 6 months. They require no stratification.
Good Growing!
