Pinguicula Medusina bulbs

Question
I have a pinguicula medusina plant and I'm trying to decipher if it is going dormant or has a possible problem. I recently got the plant a month ago and it had the long tentacle like leaves that it should have, the leaves it produced afterward were very short and then it stopped growing altogether. Some of the leaves had started to wither when I uprooted it to see if there was root rot going on. After removing the leaves which literally just fell off, I found the bulb and it is a whitish yellow color and is shaped like kinda like a hibernicula of a pinguicula grandiflora. There are also few roots right now with only a taproot evident. Since I'm not familiar on how this type of butterwort behaves during dormancy, I thought I'd as someone who may know. Thank you.

Answer
This is an unusual species for several reasons.  Not only does it grow unusually leaves, it also goes dormant in early to mid spring.  In its native habitat, it will experience a long dry spell, so it goes dormant and produces an onion-like resting bulb.  This helps the plant to make it through the dry season.  As far as I know, this is the only Mexican butterwort that produces a resting bud beneath the soil.  Keep the soil on the dry side during this state.  After a couple months, you may resume watering.  The plant will then emerge from dormancy.

Good growing!
