QuestionHello Guys,
I'm interested in acquiring a N. robcantleyi. I live in Florida Zone 9. My plans is to grow this plant in a sunny window. I have a window that gets full sun from 3 pm to 6m or morning sun at my other window. i believe is about 3 hrs as well. I would like to keep it with natural light and not having to put T5's. I was going to move it every night to my room which I keep at 65 degrees F so it would get the cool nights. Sorry i can't afford to keep the whole house that temperature just my room lol. the house usually stays at 75 degreese F. would this work? In addition, if you guys sell these species at Cobraplant.com later on the season I'd love to wait for the purchase then.
Thank you
AnswerThose conditions should be fine. While we haven't yet experimented in growing this plant in a windowsill, we have noticed it grows similarly to a truncata. We've kept truncatas in south and west windows with very good results. The only issue is to make sure the plant isn't touching the glass of your window. There is a tendency for leaves to develop burn marks when the leaves are touching the window during direct sun exposure.
I also recommend keeping the plant in the same place, even at night. Avoid moving the plant. Plants need time to acclimate to its particular microclimate. If you continuously move the plant, it won't have the ability to acclimate properly. This plant also grows very slowly, much more so than other types Nepenthes. So it's best to keep the plant in one area. Changing it's conditions every day might make it grow even slower!
Good growing!
