QuestionHello there, i have a questiong about a drosera adelea i bought from lows about 4 or 5 weeks ago. As soon as i got the plant home i soked it in distiled water and repotted it into some fresh carnivorouse plant mix soil and is setting in a tray of about 1/4 inch of distiled water at all times. Because it was from lows i sniped all the leave so it could grow new hardy ones. But here is the problem. it keeps trying to produce new leaves but they keep turning black and look burnt befor the can uncurl. i have it in a west window that recives about 3 to 4 hours of direct sunlight each day. Is this to much light or is it still trying to adapt. it has probobly tried to produce 5 leave so far each of them turning black befor the can uncurl.
AnswerHi Robert,
Since you've been having very warm weather for this time of year in your area, the window might be a bit hot for it. Try moving the plant back some if possible, or put other pots in front of it to provide some dappling. You could also move it to an East window where it gets the milder morning sun as opposed to the hot afternoon sun.
You also mentioned repotting in cp mix. If you got it from a cp nursery, you're fine, but if you mixed it yourself double check your ingredients to make sure there wasn't any fertilizer present. Drosera adelae is especially sensitive to minerals in the soil.
Good Growing!
