Question

I live in florida 1 block from the beach. The plant is facing east under a metal awning. i check the soil for dampness and never let it dry out. i bought the plant 3 months ago and tranferred it to a nicer looking hanging planter. i used the soil it was in and 50/50 mix of potting soil and sphagum moss. if i had to guess what substrate was greater i would lean towards the moss, somewhere between 30/70 and 50/50. Since i have purchased it only 2 new pitches have formed although they are at best 3 inches. Every leaf that grows a shoot that should eventualy have a pitcher gets a little nub and then turns brown and dies. Please shed some of you knowledge on a noobie.
Most Appreciated,

Answer
one of my Neps
We need to start with the best mix for Nepenthes to insure for the best drainage and that is 1/3 orchid mix with 1/3 peat moss and 1/3 sand. If the potting soil you used may had added nutrient to over load your plant and carnivorous plants will die if they are not planted in mineral-free soil. Lets not rule out the lighting for it's a know fact in the winter time because of less light that these plants all but stop making pitchers.
