QuestionJeff or Jacob,
I have a question regarding one of my N. glabratas. Its in a 4 in pot, its growing well, and doing quite nicely. Thanks again for such quality Nepenthes! The glabrata in question is wanting to grow upward and vine out. I have a short piece of bamboo stake that I would like to use to support my vining glabrata. Whenever I go to insert the stake into the growing medium to support the glabrata, I do not want to harm or disturb the roots...any ideas or suggestions to avoid harming or to minimally disturb the roots?
Thank you,
Derick
AnswerHi Derick,
The best way I can think of is to sharpen the end of the stake the way you would a pencil, so that the stake can penetrate the soil easily. This way it slides in with out as much damage pushing roots out of the way. Since a bamboo stake is not very big anyway, the damage isn't going to be severe, and is not likely to cause problems.
Good Growing!
