Question
King Sundew
Hey guys, Jason from AZ here. I'm wondering about the characteristics of the King Sundew. I have enclosed a picture. The plant is growing well and has good dew production. My question is about the leaves. The leaves don't stand very erect as you see. I have it in a west window and It's feed regularly. Is this just how some grow? Floppy style?
Thanks, Jason
AnswerThis particular sundew is a mountainous plant, so it likes it very bright and cool throughout the day. Your plant is getting enough sunlight for optimal dew production, but not enough to sustain turgid leaves. I have one in my south window. It's slightly larger than your plant, and all the leaves are erect. If possible, grow this plant in a south window where it can get more direct sunlight. If that's not possible, you may need to accept the fact that the leaves will be a bit floppy during the winter months. It's one of those compromises when growing plants in cultivation.
Good growing!
