Question

Lowland Nepenthes Shad   Hello, I am in Florida zone 9. I converted an arbor I built last year into a shade house for my lowland nepenthes. I put white vinyl on the top for filtered light. I have your volume 3 DVD and saw that you have a shade cloth draped around the sides that is see through, like a darke screen.  I would like to get some of this shade cloth and was wondering what percent you would recomment. I'm attaching a picture of my little shade house.

Ah, it must be nice to live in zone 9!  We had some snowflakes this morning at the nursery.  

We got the shade cloth at Lowe's.  (Home Depot has them, too.)  You can get it in bulk or pre-packaged.  We use several types, 30-50%.  Given your location, start with 50%.  You can always switch to 30% if you think it's too dark, but it's best to start too dark than too light.  You don't want to burn your plants!
