QuestionHey Guys, Jason from AZ here. I have a Drosera Peltata and was wondering about its dormancy. The plant has done well all winter outside in full sun. Now that the days are getting warmer and longer the plant is now starting to send up taller leaves. Will the plant go dormant with increasing temps? Or does it even need dormancy? Have a good one.
Jason
AnswerHi Jason,
Some clones of D. peltata will keep growing as long as they are wet. However, in Arizona, you will probably reach a point in the spring where the temperatures trigger the plant to begin forming the tuber. Let it grow until it begins to shut itself down. It will need to catch lots of insects to store energy before it goes into summer dormancy. Once it does go dormant, the pot can be fairly dry.
Good Growing!
