Drosera Dichotoma

Question
I just got my 4 plants I ordered from you guys last week today. However, I am a tad confused about the Drosera Dichotoma. The one I ordered off your site, or thought I was ordering, had 4 prong/tentacle things instead of the usual 2 for Drosera Binata. The plant I received merely looks like an enormous Drosera Binata, not like the Drosera Dichotoma I saw on your site.

Thanks for clearing up the confusion!

Answer
Hi Devon,

When any of the D. binata forms are young they have fewer forks.  They all look pretty similar until they are about a year old depending on your growing conditions.  When they're older you will know if you have one of the smaller T-forms.  All of ours are struck from root cuttings, so we know their identity.  In fact, if any D. binatas are seed-grown, they are usually the small hardier forms since binata dichotoma and multifidia don't self-pollinate.  The smaller varieties in cultivation are often hardier varieties, and will also go dormant.  Many of them come from New Zealand.

Good Growing!
