QuestionHey guys, Jason from AZ here. I have a question of wonderment about the Hen an Chick Sundew. Is it this plant's nature to have only a couple leaves with dew? The plant has great color and in the right soil. It grows along side my Cape Sundews which drip dew. Thanks
Jason
AnswerHi Jason,
It is pretty common for Drosera prolifera to have two or three upright leaves that will be nice and dewy while older ones form a skirt around the plant and are not dewy. This is one of those plants that does benefit from some elevated humidity. They grow in open forests in Northern Queensland, Australia, and are used to really consistent conditions. This would be in contrast to Cape sundews which experience quite a range of growing conditions in their native South Africa.
Good Growing!
