QuestionHey guys,
I purchased a Drosera regia from your nursery at the beginning of the month and have a pretty general question regarding water. I have been given conflicting advice on its care, ranging from allowing it to sit in water like other sundews to treating it like a Cephalotus and only watering it every few days. Considering the plant looked great when I received it, I'd like to know how you keep it at the nursery?
Thanks,
Mat O.
AnswerHi Mat,
We keep our regia's a little on the dry side. We will water them from the top, then leave a little water in their trays, but never more than just a 1/4 inch. We let them use that water up before adding more. They will tolerate wetter conditions (they are not as touchy as Cephalotus), but I've had rotting problems if kept waterlogged the way you would other sundews. Here's a great article on D. regia: http://www.carnivorousplants.org/howto/GrowingGuides/D_regia.php
Good Growing!
