Nepenthes jamban

Question
Hi!
In the past, I had purchased a Nepenthes jamban plant from another source. It came without any pitchers and I had little success with it. I am considering retrying this species, and your plants seem much healthier than theirs. What are some basics about growing N. jamban as a houseplant? I live in the bay area of CA. Finally, do they really need significantly cooler nights?
Thanks,
Dave

Answer
This species as actually relatively easy to grow.  It seems to be grow well in both highland and intermediate conditions.  We've have several specimens that have been part of our collection for at least a couple years.  So far we haven't noticed them being fussy at all.

I'm not sure what you mean by "little success" with your previous plant.  It would be helpful to know if the type of growing conditions you provided so that I can recommend specific changes.  If you follow our care instructions indicated on in the care sheet section of our website, you should do fine.

If you can provide me with additional information about the growth habit of your previous plant that you didn't like and the growing conditions you provided, I can provide you more specific recommendations to tweak your microclimate for better success.

Good growing!
