Identification

Question
Texas Plant
Texas Plant
Please can you identify the plants in the attached photo. These grow in a few areas on our property near La Grange, Texas. They are about 3 to 4 inches high and produce a marble sized seed case that splits and drops thin triangular black seeds with about 0.2 inch sides. This year we have had a number of double stems but in all other years they are single plants.

Answer
After some research, your plant (which is not a carnivorous plant) appears to be a species in the genus aristolochia, several of which grow in Texas. Here are a couple relevant links.
