QuestionHey guys, I am wondering how long the pictures last on a sun picture plant. I have mine in the same set up as your ten gallon tank with the same lights. The lights are on from 7am to 9:30pm. The pictures and necture spoons have great color. The pictures turn more green after about a month then start to brown from the sides at the top. The plant is young, the biggest the pictures get now are about 2 inches. So is this its normal growing. I would assume that these plants are slow growers.
AnswerWith young plants, the pitchers usually last for about 1-2 months. When the plant matures, the pitchers will last longer, 6-9 months. Heliamphora grows extremely slowly. Expect an average of one pitcher per month. It's not a plant for impatient people. It's similar to growing a cactus.
Good growing!
