Question
S. Oreophila
Hello, this is my second question. Along with the venus flytrap, I noticed the lower part of my sarracenia oreophila pitchers were somewhat brown. Is this natural, or do I have another pest? Oh, I forgot to mention but the plants grow outdoors in full sun, the soil and water is fine, (seeing as I've been using it with these plants for over a year now). All the growing conditions for the pitcher plant and flytrap are okay. I have attached an image of this plant as well. Thanks!

This browning on the middle of the pitchers isn't a pest, but decay from having caught so many insects. It happens routinely in late summer. It looks unsightly, but isn't a big problem for the plant. Occasionally the top part of a pitcher may die, but the bottom part got what it needed, lots of nutrients from the digested insects. S. oreophila will start dropping pitchers soon anyway and replacing them with phyllodia.
