crispy critters

Question
uh oh. stupid me.... i was gone for a week and my outdoor collection seems to have fried... it got up to a shockingly warm 87 degrees *sarcasm* and they seemed to have taken it badly... my sarracenias tarnok and judith hindle have totally turned crispy and so has my d. dichotoma and the red dragon flytrap.... i feel really bad... ive soaked them a couple times and shaded them anything else i can do?

Answer
Hi Nathan,

After getting them back in water all you can do is wait.  I've seen many Sarracenia re-sprout from their rhizome.  Flytraps, iffy, but give them a couple weeks before trashing them.  The D. dichotoma has thick roots, and many Australian plants have to deal with dry periods, so it may send up new shoots.

For now just get them back in water, but don't shade them.  That will just give you another problem.  Just cut off any dead foliage, and see what happens in a few weeks.  Your plants should be sitting in water at all times, especially in the summer.

Good Growing!
