Question
Darlintonia
Allexperts,
Hey I have a question about Darlintonia. How old does a darlintonia have to be before it flowers. I have attached a photo of the Darlintonia that I have. That I have been growing under CFL lights. I believe the plant is somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-7 years. I got the plant last February at Lowe's. I was hoping to get one from you guys this year, but there not up yet. Thank you so much for Answering my questions.
Sincerely,
Weylin
AnswerHi Weylin,
It's really unlikely that the plant is that old. This is probably a stolon offshoot from a larger plant that was potted up for mass marketing.
In any case, you have a few years before blooming. The usually need to be about a foot tall before they are big enough to bloom. I would say you're looking at 2 to 3 years yet.
Good Growing!
