Question
Sarracenia Purporea
Allexperts,
I have a question about whether this plant can be put into Tara Cotta Pot. I have attached a picture.
I was planning on putting the plant in 6inch Tara Cotta Pot.
Sincerely,
Weylin
AnswerHi Weylin,
Yes, you can grow this plant in a terracotta pot. We discuss the use of terracotta pots in Volume 1 of the Grow Carnivorous Plants DVD series. In general, we recommend using it if you live in a desert climate. The advantage of using such a pot is the cooling effect by increased evaporation. The disadvantage of using it is having to water more frequently because of the increased evaporation. So if you live in a desert climate or if you're prepared to water more frequently to maintain optimal soil moisture, using a terracotta pot is fine.
Good growing!
