QuestionDewthread
QUESTION: Allexperts,
I have a dew thread that I just put outside for the spring time and its all black and covered with white stuff. Is there any I can do to help it out of the predicament that it is in. If you need more information I can provide that to. I have enclosed a picture. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Weylin
ANSWER: Hi Weylin,
Unfortunately, I've seen this many times. In the darker conditions of winter one of your dormant hibernacula has succumbed to Botrytis mold. It's dead. The other one can be salvaged. Take them out of the pot, separate the dead one from the live one, repot. Be sure to spray the live one with fungicide well. Was this a Florida Giant Dewthread? They seem to be very prone to this.

It was a northern Dew Thread. What would be a could fungicide terbcozle or chorbnile (spelling ?sorry)?

AnswerHi Weylin,
If you have some of the Bayer 3-in-1, that has tebuconozole in it, and it works very well. I think you mean Chlorothanil, which goes by the brand name Daconil. That works well also, the tebuconozole is systemic, so it will last longer. A good saturation of sulfur spray will work also.
