QuestionHii Jeff or Jacob! This question just popped into my head today.
I know that nepenthes pitchers survive for about 1.5 to 2 months but how long wouls a sarracenia pitcher survive?
By sarracenia I mean the trumpet pitchers.
AnswerHi Victor,
Sarracenia leaves usually live for the duration of a growing season. Most leaves are on the plant and growing during the late spring and summer, then die in the winter. Two species, Sarracenia psittacina and S. purpurea have leaves that live about a year. Hybrids of those plants tend to have leaves that live longer also.
Good Growing!
