QuestionHey Guys. I have a Ventricosa. The plant is in a four inch pot and sitting in a open fish tank with a two tube light over head. I have a Sun Picture in there as well and it's growing like a weed! The Nepenthes has good color but is not growing very well. The lids droop even with right amount of water. My question is should I re-pot? It's probably been in that current pot for at least a few years. Also if I do repot it the brown part of the vine is sticking out of the soil by about 2 too 2 1/2 inches. No basal shoots. Should I bury the browned stem in the soil? Thanks
Jason
AnswerHi Jason,
If it's been a few years, it's time to repot. You can bury the stem deeper. What the plant will do is begin growing some roots from it, and you may see basal shoots emerge from under the soil. When you transplant, inspect the roots. If the plant isn't looking good, you may have some root rot. If some roots are still alive, it will take time to recover once transplanted. If you have some, a dose of Superthrive can be helpful here.
Good Growing!
